Buchia Buttress is a rock formation on Adelaide Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises at the southwest end of Mount Bouvier .
It was named in 1982 by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee . It is named after the fossils of marine mussels of the genus Buchia , which the British Antarctic Survey first found here during a geological survey between 1980 and 1981.
