Buckingham is a village on the Rivière du Lièvre and since January 1, 2002 a district of Gatineau . Before that, it was a separate community in the Outaouais region of Québec. The place dates back to British settlers from the timber boom in the early 19th century. In the 2016 census, a population of 16,685 was determined. Despite its British origins, the district is predominantly French-speaking today.
