Buddha's way

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buddhas Weg is a Buddhist monastery that opened its doors in January 2010 in Siedelsbrunn , a district of the Wald-Michelbach community . It is located in the building of the former specialist clinic on Hardberg in the Odenwald .

Buddhist tradition

The monastery follows the Vietnamese Thiền tradition of the monk Lin Chi . While the majority of the nuns and monks come from western countries, including Germany, the USA, Switzerland and France, ordained people from all over the world like Ajahn Brahm 2010 or Claude AnShin Thomas are regular guests .

Allegations of abuse

The former abbot of the Thich Thien Son monastery, who was chairman of the German Buddhist Order Community (DBO) until 2009, is said to have used his religious role model function to sexually harass and abuse members of the monastery for years. Minors are said to have been among the victims of abuse. The police and the youth welfare office closed the proceedings in 2011 and again in 2016 due to the lack of evidence. In 2010 the DBO reacted and excluded the abbot as a member. Three years later, Thich Thien Son gave up his status as a monk. He continues to lead seminars in the monastery under his title Thay Thien Son.

Traditional Chinese medicine

Attached to the Buddha's Way Monastery is a naturopathic practice that carries out treatments based on traditional Chinese medicine . The focus here is on acupuncture and moxibustion treatments.

Seminars

Various courses, workshops and seminars take place in the seminar house of the Buddhas Weg monastery. These are partly influenced by Buddhism, such as meditation courses in general and Vipassana and Samatha in particular. In addition, seminars on general lifestyle are offered as well as physical exercises such as yoga , qigong or tai chi .
