The Buddington peak (in Argentina Monte Gómez ) is a 235 m high mountain in the southwest of King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It looms between Collins Harbor and Marian Cove .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1960 after the British sealers James Waterman Buddington (1839-1928), of the South Shetland Islands in the 1870s and last visited the late 1880s and since 1871 to revive the seal hunt by the United States contributed . Namesake of the name valid in Argentina is a sailor of the corvette Uruguay , who was involved in the rescue of participants of the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901-1903) from the Paulet Island .
