Budhia Singh

Budhia Singh (* 2002 in Bhubaneswar , Orissa ) is an Indian long-distance runner. He is the youngest long-distance runner in the world.

On May 1, 2006, Budhia ran a distance of 65 kilometers from the Jagannath Temple in Puri to Bhubaneswar in about seven hours. He went all the way to "hardening" without food and drink. He made it into the Indian Limca record book. At the age of four he had already run six half marathons. He was trained by Biranchi Das , who adopted him, from the age of two . On April 14, 2008, the 40-year-old coach was gunned down in front of his training grounds in Bhubaneshwar, in the Indian state of Orissa, and died.

On May 8, 2006, the government ordered that Budhia could no longer walk until 2013 for health reasons. In the meantime (2014) he attends a school for talented athletes, but only rarely runs.
