The Bukovec (German Buchberg , formerly Keuliger Buchberg or Keulichter Buchberg ) is a mountain in the Czech part of the Jizera Mountains on the border with Poland . The 1005 m nm high volcanic cone is the most striking mountain in the mountains and is located at the confluence of the Jizerka ( Little Iser ) and the Jizera ( Iser ) near the mountain village of Jizerka (Little Iser).
Warm springs can be found on its slopes. The basalt summit with its specific climatic conditions is a retreat for birds and rare plant and insect species. It has been protected as a nature reserve (přírodní rezervace) since 1960 . The 56 hectare reserve includes the beech and ravine forests on the summit and the surrounding wetlands. There are two nature trails in the reserve.
