Bulimundo is a Cape Verdean world music band.
history
A musical revolution took place in Cape Verde in the early 1980s. After Cape Verde gained independence in 1975, the band Bulimundo and their leader Carlos Alberto Martins ( Katchas ) introduced the Cape Verdeans to their electric version of Funaná (a local style of music). This cultural shock wave led the group to a success that continues to this day. In 1980 the group performed for the first time abroad in France and Holland . The founder of the group, Katchás, died in 1989. After 1997 the group separated but in 2017 they reunited.
