Bull Monastery
Bull monastery is a slang term for various types of residential buildings designed exclusively for housing men . In particular, the term is applied to:
- Single homes that of larger companies for collective accommodation standalone operation member are furnished. This facility was particularly typical for the major mines in the Ruhr area . Container shelters at large construction sites also often bear this name.
- Housing complexes that are also created by companies for unmarried employees. In contrast to single homes , these are not collective accommodation with multi-bed rooms and shared rooms, but residential buildings with conventional apartments , which are, however, tailored to the use of individuals instead of families.
- Apprenticeship homes in which large companies place their male trainees .
- Dormitories for police students
In some regions (e.g. the Ruhr area) the term was also used pejoratively for police stations in the 1970s / 80s, but has largely disappeared today and is therefore only known to a few in this context.
