Bulolo is the second largest city in Morobe Province in Papua New Guinea . It was one of the most important centers for gold diggers in Papua New Guinea in the former territory of New Guinea.
The city is located on the Bulolo River, a tributary of the Markham River , about 20 miles northwest of the city of Wau .
The city was founded in June 1930 and is now inhabited by around 20,000 people. The main industry in Bulolo is forestry. The Insect Farming and Trading Agency (IFTA) was based in Bulolo until it was closed, and had local residents breed exotic insects and butterflies on insect farms, which were then sold worldwide.
Bulolo can be reached through Bulolo Airport .
