The Federation of Alevi students (short: BDAs ) is the student organization of the Federation of Alevi youth E.V (BDAJ). It is the umbrella organization for over 33 university groups. The BDAS has been based in Cologne since 2016 .

history

The association of Alevi students was outlined as part of a university group initiative of the association of Alevi youths in 2010 and implemented in November 2011 when the first Alevi university group was founded in Trier by Caglar Ekici. On May 11 and 12, 2013, representatives of the 17 university groups at the time met in Kassel to found an umbrella organization for Alevi student groups. On May 11th they drafted the statutes together and on May 12th the first board of the BDAS was elected, of which Caglar Ekici became chairman.

From 2009 to 2012 the Working Group of Evangelical Youth (AEJ) in Germany organized a coaching project with the Federation of Alevi Youth with the aim of further structural development of the self-organization of the BDAJ and later also of the BDAS. The project was funded by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and focused on the introduction of full-time structures, the qualification of multipliers and seminars. In 2010 a joint specialist event took place under the title “Young people on the 'right' path? Strategies of BDAJ and AEJ against right-wing extremism ”.

The Association of Alevi Students is active at over 30 German universities and supports the academic discussion of Islam and Alevism. In an enlightening sense, he advocates the discussion of topics such as sexism , gender , anti-fascism , anti-Semitism and homophobia in university politics . Due to the federal concept of the BDAS, the activities and competencies are the responsibility of the individual university groups and their boards.

The individual university groups participated z. B. at events on the situation of Alevis in other countries, on the perspective of Alevi professorships in Germany and are committed to refugees in Germany.

Structure of the BDAS

The current board (since May 2019) consists of nine members, the chairmen are Selin Aslandemir and Umut Cengil. The supervisory board consists of three members. The members of the supervisory board are elected by the BuKo for two years. The arbitration commission, like the supervisory board, consists of three members. The members of the arbitration commission are elected by the BuKo for two years in office. Other organs are the Federal Delegates' Conference (BuKo) and the advisory board

The BuKo is the highest body of the BDAS. Your decisions take precedence over all other decisions by the organs and, if necessary, override them. It is authorized to elect and discharge the association's organs. The approval of the annual accounts, amendments to the statutes and the acceptance of the work report of the organs, but also the dissolution of the BDAS itself, can only be achieved by an ordinary federal delegate conference. The ordinary BuKo takes place annually.

The board consists of seven to nine full members. They are elected by the BuKo for a period of two years. According to the statutes, the office of federal chairman is held equally. The general secretary and the finance chairman receive support from a deputy. In addition, up to three assessors can be elected to the board.
