Leonid Stepanowytsch Stadnyk ( Ukrainian Леонід Степанович Стадник ; * around 1970 in Podoljanzi near Zhytomyr , Ukraine ; † August 2014 ) was the largest living person and is in the Guinness Book of Records .

biography

The continuous growth was due to a tumor in the brain pressing on the pituitary gland . As a result, his body produced more growth hormones . Since then it has continuously grown an inch a year . Its height, registered in the Guinness Book of Records, is 2.58 meters. He weighed over 200 kilograms and was size 68. At last he was 2.60 m.

His size was unclear for a long time because he refused to be measured. It was not until 2008 that he was listed as the “ tallest living person” in the Guinness Book of Records, replacing Bao Xishun from China , who is significantly smaller at 2.35 meters. Due to the size difference, the third mandatory measurement was omitted.

He was a trained veterinarian and lived with his mother in his birthplace. He died of a stroke in August 2014 at the age of 44.
