List of tallest people

The tallest people list includes people who were, or currently are, five feet or more. The above-average size can be caused by genetic characteristics, operations on the brain or other triggers. From a medical point of view, one speaks of giant stature from a height of 230 centimeters . Another list names people whose height is sometimes stated in the press and literature as 240 centimeters and more, but this has not been clearly proven. In addition to the size, the country of origin and the dates of life are given for the individual persons and further comments are made.

In the literature, there are sometimes different statements about the individual persons. This can be due to the fact that the person concerned is growing taller for commercial reasons, for example when they perform in the circus or in shows, or it is due to the fact that some of these people are still growing and so older measurements are no longer up to date. With advancing age, a person can also become smaller due to the curvature of the spine or the compression of the vertebrae. Because of the large number of incorrect measurements, only those people were included in the list whose height has been documented relatively reliably. This can be done primarily through measurements in medical facilities or through the Guinness Book of Records , for which a person is measured several times a day and an average is formed from them. The tallest people can only gain access there if their size is unequivocally determined.

• Size (cm): states the size in centimeters. It can be measured in a standing position, possibly taking into account any curvature of the spine. The decisive factor is the largest determined measure in the course of a lifetime.
• Name: gives the name of the person. Alternative names or nicknames are used in italics .
• Country: The country the person comes from.
• Life data: states the year of birth and death.
• Note: Contains notes about the person. These can relate to life or to the sources on size.
• Persons whose information is highlighted in gray were reliably documented and medically measured.

He was measured on faculty at Washington University in St. Louis 18 days before his death. He weighed 199 kilograms when he died and 223 kilograms on his 21st birthday. By the age of ten he was already 200 centimeters tall and 100 kilograms. Its enormous growth was triggered by a pituitary adenoma , which released large amounts of growth hormones .
267	John William Rogan also Willie Bud Rogan	United States	1865-1905	Rogan was unable to stand due to joint stiffness and bone adhesions in his knees and hips. Measurements were taken while sitting. His weight was only 79 kilograms. His enormous growth began at the age of 13.
264	John F. Carroll The Buffalo Giant	United States	1932-1969	His enormous growth began at the age of 16 and was stopped in 1959 by treatment in a hospital. Measurements while standing in 1959 showed 244 centimeters. He suffered from severe spinal curvature. The overall size relates to an assumed curvature of the spine. Later measurements while standing showed 239 centimeters. In 1968 the height was 234 centimeters.
260	Leonid Stadnyk	UKR	1970-2014	Was considered the largest living person from August 7, 2007 to September 17, 2009. For years he lived withdrawn and avoided contact with the press, which wanted to make his size public. However, since the measurement method at that time was questioned - only two instead of three measurements were taken in one day to average the size - and he did not want to be measured again, the record went to Sultan Kösen in 2009 with 247 centimeters.
255	Trijntje Keever The Big Girl	NED	1616-1633	The daughter of the mayor of her hometown was the tallest woman in history with proven greatness. She died at the age of 17. It is also indicated with a size of 260 centimeters.
251	Vikas Uppal Vicky	IND	1986-2007	As an 18-year-old, he was stated to be 251 centimeters tall and weighed 195 kilograms. At that point it was still growing. His death in 2007 was the result of a failed brain tumor operation. The above-average growth began at the age of five. It is also given as 239, 242 and 268 centimeters in height and 202 kilograms in weight.

251	Sultan Kosen	DOOR	1982–	Its weight is about 155 kilograms. In 2006 he applied for recognition as the tallest living person in the Guinness Book of Records. At that time, he was officially measured 242 centimeters, six centimeters taller than Bao Xishun, who had been recognized as the tallest person. He was officially measured by the Guinness Book of Records in February 2009 and has been considered the largest living person since the book was published in 2010. On February 8, 2011, he was included in the Guinness Book of Records with his 251.0 cm body length.
249	Ajaz Ahmed	PAH	1976–	At 236 centimeters tall, Ahmed claimed to be the tallest living person. Its size has never been medically correct or confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records. The tallest person was then a person with the confirmed height of 236 centimeters, from 2007 it was Stadnyk with 257 centimeters. Ahmed is also given as 231, 254 and 256 centimeters.
249	Bernard Coyne The Cherokee Giant	United States	1897-1921	He was not admitted to military service in 1918 with a height of 236 centimeters. When Coyne died in 1921, he was still growing. At the time of his death, he was the tallest person in the world.
249	Donald Don Koehler	United States	1925-1981	The above-average growth began from the age of ten. Due to a curvature of the spine, its size was reduced to 238 centimeters in later years. From 1969 until his death in 1981 he was considered the largest living person. He had a twin sister who was 175 centimeters tall. This difference is the largest in twins, according to the Guinness Book of Records.
248	Zeng Jinlian	CHN	1964-1982	She was the greatest woman in medical history. She could not stand up straight because of a curvature of the spine. At the age of 13, she was already 213 centimeters tall. Above-average growth began at the age of four months. She was considered the tallest living person from 1981 until her death in 1982 when she was 17 years old.
248	Christopher Munster	DEU	1632-1676	Is in the Guinness Book of Records. Was 224 centimeters tall at the age of 16. The goose-herd was appointed his bodyguard by Duke Christian Ludwig of Hanover.
247	Väinö Myllyrinne	FIN	1909-1963	At 21 years old, he was 222 centimeters tall and later began to grow again. The recognized height was 247 centimeters, in the 1930s he was supposedly even 251 centimeters tall. From 1940 until his death in 1963 he was considered the tallest person in the world.

246	Julius Koch Le Geant Constantin	DEU	1872-1902	His legs had to be amputated because of gangrene . The size information comes from the time shortly before the amputation. He starred in the short film, The Giant Constantin , in 1902 . His skeleton is on display in the Natural History Museum in Mons .
246	Zhao Liang	CHN	1982? -	His size was confirmed by a hospital where he presented with an old sports injury. Its weight is about 155 kilograms. He is still wondering whether he would like to have his size published in the Guinness Book of Records.

He joined a Portuguese circus, where he was no longer studied anthropomorphically. The circus touted him as a 265 centimeter giant. From 1988 until his death in 1990, he was the tallest living person in the Guinness Book of Records.

244	Anton Franckenpoint The tall Anton	DEU	around 1618-1648	Anton Franckenpoint was a soldier during the Thirty Years' War within the Leibstandarte of the Protestant general Christian von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel. His skeleton can be found today in the Museum anatomicum in Marburg.
244	Aurangzeb Khan	PAH	1962–	Its size has not been officially confirmed. Khan claimed in 2000 to be the tallest living person, which he would have been if he was more than eight inches. The tallest person, however, was someone 236 centimeters tall. He is also specified with 229 centimeters in height.
244	Mounir Fourar	DZA	1972-2012	He was measured at a height of 244 centimeters when he was around 20 years old, but is also called 234 centimeters. In 2003, Fourar publicly claimed to be the tallest living person in the world, which would have been the case with a height of more than 238 centimeters. However, the tallest person was then recognized as someone 236 centimeters tall.

241	Alexander Sisonenko	RUS	1959-2012	Until 1986 he was one of the best Russian basketball players with twelve international matches. His height was measured in 1998 standing, because of compressed vertebrae with 230 centimeters and lying with 240 centimeters. In the first grade he was already a head taller than any other child. There are also sizes of 240 and 239 centimeters.
