The Federation of Eichsfeld Associations in Foreign Countries e. V. was the umbrella organization of the Eichsfeld clubs abroad. It was founded on July 31, 1910 in Herne and dissolved in Gernrode on August 29, 2015 .

history

The Eichsfeld compatriots who came from Eichsfeld and settled abroad - mostly for work reasons - founded Eichsfeld associations in order to achieve better cohesion among one another. After the associations of the Eichsfeld industrial area held meetings in Essen in 1908 and Dortmund in 1909 , the desire to form an umbrella organization became more and more urgent. On July 31, 1910, the "Bund der Eichsfelder Vereine eV" was founded in Herne . It was the compatriots Karl Claus (Herne), Adolf Hartleib (Düsseldorf), Georg Heddergott (Dortmund), Josef Hundeshagen (Herne) and Jakob Trümper (Düsseldorf) who brought about the decision to found the company. The founding of the federal government was the impetus for other associations to quickly establish themselves.

Traditional events of the Federation of Eichsfeld Associations are each year the nativity scene devotion in the Franziskuskirche in Recklinghausen-Stuckenbusch on the second Sunday in January as well as the great pilgrimage of the Catholic Eichsfelder abroad to the Marian pilgrimage site in Bochum-Stiepel on Trinity Sunday (Sunday after Pentecost). Eichsfeld home meetings take place at regular intervals - at least every two years. Today these are mostly connected with the Eichsfeld Days, which take place every two years in Eichsfeld. The delegates of the individual Eichsfeld associations also meet every two years for the delegates' conference. The conference of delegates is the highest decision-making body of the Federation of Eichsfeld Associations. She chooses u. a. also the federal board.

The Bund der Eichsfeld clubs celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010 as part of the Eichsfeld Days in Teistungen and Gerblingerode in Eichsfeld in August. An extensive commemorative publication on the history of the Eichsfeld clubs abroad was also published on this occasion.

In order to strengthen the connection between Eichsfeld and compatriots abroad, a local magazine was absolutely necessary. Today the "Eichsfelder Heimatzeitschrift", published by Mecke Druck und Verlag in Duderstadt, serves as an important source of information between the Eichsfeld fields at home and abroad.

In 2015 the Bund Eichsfeld associations dissolved at the delegates' conference of the federal board.
