The Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Seniorenbüros e. V. ( BaS ) is an association based in Bonn and the network of more than 420 senior citizen offices nationwide. She acts as a lobbyist and expert for the civic engagement of older people. It offers specialist advice as well as specialist conferences and advanced training and development and develops projects.

It was founded in January 1995. Franz-Ludwig Blömker has been chairman since November 2012, and Sabine Hantzko is the deputy chairwoman. Gabriella Hinn is the managing director.

Positions and goals

The association stands for a positive image of old age based on the potential of older people and is committed to a self-determined life and the social participation of all people in the municipalities.

The BaS sees itself as an initiator for innovative senior work . Through her work, she wants to help shape demographic change constructively. She is committed to ensuring that voluntary work is supported reliably and in a qualified manner and does not serve as a substitute for professional work.

The goals of the BaS are:

  • to convey a varied, positive image of the post-employment phase of life
  • to attract and qualify older people in town and country for civic engagement
  • to improve the framework conditions and the infrastructure for volunteering
  • to promote the social participation of older people
  • to contribute to cohesion between the generations
