Federal Student Council for Electrical Engineering
The Federal Student Council for Electrical Engineering , BuFaTa ET for short , is a regular gathering of the student councils from all universities in German-speaking countries that offer courses in electrical engineering , electrical engineering and information technology , mechatronics, as well as renewable energies and energy efficiency . It sees itself as the highest interest group for students in the subjects mentioned. BuFaTa ET meets once a semester at a different location. The 84th BuFaTa ET took place at KIT in the summer semester of 2019 .
organization
The central body of BuFaTa ET is the plenum , which usually meets once a semester. It is made up of the delegates from all German electrical engineering faculties and is the only decision-making body. All members and institutions of BuFaTa ET report to the plenary, and decisions are made here on motions and resolutions. All member delegations have equal voting rights, the meetings are public. Student councils from neighboring countries are invited to the meetings and can take part in the exchange of information, in working groups and in plenary sessions.
Working groups are set up within the plenary to discuss individual issues and to prepare proposals and resolutions. The AKs do not have their own decision-making authority, but have to present their results to the discussion in the plenary.
The secretary forms the management together with the coordination committee and is responsible for the implementation of BuFaTa resolutions, the maintenance of external contacts and the homepage. He is also involved in the organization of the next BuFaTa ET.
tasks
Particular attention is paid to networking and exchanging experiences between the student councils: How do other student councils deal with the introduction of new forms of study, how are first-semester students supported and how do the student councils present represent student interests inside and outside their university?
In the past, the BuFaTa considered, inter alia the evaluation and revision of the Bologna reforms , the financing of the student council work and the University Ranking of CHE . In addition, workshops were held on many other topics related to student representation and electrical engineering studies.
A wiki is created at the conference , on which student representatives can access the content at any time. This is to ensure that the knowledge gained at the conferences is not lost.
history
BuFaTa-ET came into being in the mid-1970s as the unofficial successor organization to the former Electrical Engineering Association in the Association of German Student Associations . In the course of the 1968 student movement, the VDS dissolved all professional associations in 1969 in order to abolish the “separation into political and professional interest representation”, which was regarded as outdated.
