The Bundesgymnasium und Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium (BG / BORG) St. Johann in Tirol is one of 25 general education secondary schools in Tirol and the only one in the Kitzbühel district .

history

In the school year 1945/1946 Walter Weihs began teaching with four students. Initially, exams had to be taken externally in Innsbruck or Salzburg. In the school year 1952/1953 it was achieved that an examination committee comes to the school. This year 60 students were taught by 5 teachers in 2 classrooms. The official granting of public rights to the Weihs private school took place in 1956. In 1964 the current school building was erected and the Weihs private high school was renamed the Weihs private high school. After the school was converted into a branch of the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Innsbruck in the school year 1965/1966 according to a decree of the Federal Ministry of Education and Walter Weihs was appointed educational director, the Federal High School St. Johann in Tirol was retained in 1966. In the school year 1989/1990 the school form of the federal upper level secondary school was introduced and a structural school extension was completed. In 2009, the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft carried out an architectural competition for a new extension. Up until the 2014/15 school year, the renovation and expansion took place while the lessons were still going on and the opening ceremony was held at the end of May 2015.

Educational offer

After the fourth grade, lower grade (= 8th grade ), the BG / BORG St. Johann in Tirol has the option of choosing between a modern language, a scientific upper level, and a five-year dance musical branch (TMA).

Federal High School (BG)

The upper level form of the federal high school specializes in languages. In addition to English, Latin and French, Spanish, Russian, Italian and other elective subjects are also offered. The language branch can only be attended by graduates of the lower level of a grammar school.

Federal Upper Level Realgymnasium (BORG)

The upper level form of the federal upper level secondary school is in turn divided into a natural science and a computer science branch. The federal upper level secondary school can be attended by graduates of the lower level of a grammar school or a secondary school / new middle school.
