The Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium Sillgasse is a grammar school in Innsbruck that specializes in languages (BG) and natural sciences (BRG) depending on the branch .

history

Founded in 1910, it is the oldest state high school for girls in Austria . The facility, initially run as a "Higher Daughter School" , was soon converted into a secondary school for girls. When a federal high school was connected in the 1960s, the school operated under the name " Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium Innsbruck - Sillgasse" since 1976 . In 2010 the school celebrated the centennial of the facility with a parade.

The demolition of the building and a new building are planned for autumn 2018. There is an alternative quarter in Technikerstraße for about 2.5 years.

Since the school spends over a thousand euros every year on waste disposal alone, a recycling group was started with class 6D (2011/12). With the project and the correct waste separation, the aim is to reduce this amount significantly, since the disposal of pure waste plastic, waste metal and waste paper is free. In contrast, the school has to pay high fees for unseparated residual waste. The money that is saved through proper waste separation is used for other projects and excursions, for example. Three garbage boxes were distributed per class. There is one each for plastic, metal and paper waste. If necessary, two students empty the boxes during the long break and always on Friday to avoid mold growth. The residual waste bin, however, will continue to be emptied by the cleaning staff.
