The Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium Zwettl (BG / BRG Zwettl) is a general education secondary school in Zwettl .
history
The BG / BRG Zwettl emerged from the Stiftsgymnasium of Stift Zwettl , which was built in 1874 by Abbot Augustin Steininger . Just one year later, the authorities deemed the collegiate high school to be superfluous and dissolved it again. At the urging of the city, the collegiate high school was reopened in 1877 and taken over by the republic after the Second World War.
Educational offer
The school is run as a humanistic and modern language grammar school and as a secondary school . From the 5th grade onwards, pupils of the grammar school can choose between the languages Ancient Greek or French and in the Realgymnasium they can choose between Latin and French from the 5th grade onwards.
Day school home
The parents 'and friends' association has decided to work with the school to offer its own form of a day school home, which is available to the students every day until late in the afternoon. In this context, teachers supervise the students and, on a case-by-case basis, also offer help with homework. The visit is voluntary. This takes into account the fact that only a few students from Zwettl attend grammar school due to the poor accessibility.
All day school
In the school year 2010/11 a unique model of intensive, all-day care began with the all-day school , in which very concrete support is given in the first grade (if necessary also in the second grade) with homework. This is intended to ensure that students in the higher school levels already work with a high degree of independence. Attending the all-day school is compulsory.
