The Federal Criminal Police (BKP) ( French Police judiciaire fédérale , Italian Polizia giudiziaria federale ) carries out preliminary investigations and judicial investigations in Switzerland for those areas which are within the competence of the federal government .

tasks

It investigates in the area of organized crime , violations of the Narcotics Act and white-collar crime under the direction of the Federal Prosecutor's Office . The BKP also coordinates cross- cantonal and international investigations.

organization

The BKP is subordinate to the Federal Office of Police (fedpol) and has no uniformed police officers . It is organized into four business areas, each with three sub-departments:

  • Division 1: Branch investigations
    • Investigations Lausanne (2 commissariats)
    • Investigations Zurich (3 commissioner's offices)
    • Investigations Lugano (2 commissariats)
  • Division 2: Investigations Middle
    • Investigations in Bern (4 commissariats)
    • State security investigations (2 "State Security" commissariats, 2 "Mutual Legal Aid" commissariats)
    • Terrorism investigations (2 commissariats)
  • Division 3: Investigations Special Operations
    • Investigations forensics, IT (3 commissariats)
    • Investigations special operations (central VP management, undercover investigations, witness protection)
    • Observation (4 commissariats)
  • Business Area 4: Investigation, Analysis and Coordination
    • Analysis (2 “Analysis” commissariat, “Operative crime analysis” commissariat, “Criminal Intelligence” commissariat)
    • Coordination (7 commissariats: CYCO clearing, CYCO monitoring, pedophilia / pornography, narcotics, human trafficking / people smuggling, general, organized and financial crime, counterfeit money)
    • Command ("Operation and Planning" Commissariat, " Target Search / Task Force " commissariat )
