The 1st chairman of the BNK is a co-opted member of the Presidium of the German Society for Cardiology - Heart and Circulatory Research (DGK) and the German Heart Foundation , the editorial advisory board of " Cardio News " and the magazine "HERZ" - the association organ of the BNK. He is also the 2nd chairman of the BDI's Cardiology Section . The first chairman is currently Norbert Smetak from Kirchheim.

Some members are active in committees, project groups, health and occupational policy groups at regional and federal level and in DGK committees.

history

The BNK was founded in 1979 as a working group of resident cardiologists from a group of around 100 resident internists with the sub-area of cardiology. By 2008 the number of members had grown to around 1100. The first chairman was Günther Kersten, Cologne.

In 1993 it was converted into a registered association and on August 3, 1993 an entry was made in the register of associations at the Munich District Court . In 1994 the Articles of Association of the Scientific Society (DGK) were changed with the inclusion of established cardiologists in the Commission for Clinical Cardiology, Program Commission, and Commission for election proposals.

In 1995 the magazine "HERZ" became the organ of the association. On September 25, 1995, the ANK was renamed to its current name. In 1997 there was a restructuring of the association with the establishment of an office on June 1, 1997; all 23 KV areas were more closely integrated into the work of the board by regional representatives.

In 1998 the "Practical Cardiology Journal by Fax" began as a weekly information service for the referring colleagues. In the same year the IKKF (Institute for Clinical Cardiological Research) was founded together with the DGK and ALKK. The first structured collaborations took place with cardiologists from Belgium, France, Italy and Spain, the later “Council Cardiology Practice” in Denia / Spain. In 1999 the first “position paper of the resident cardiologists in the BNK on the health system and health reform 2000” was published. The BNK received a logo and a website.

In 2000, a central working group “Integrated Care” was set up to develop a position paper. In 2001 this working group was renamed "Strategy Commission" and the "Position Paper on Integrated Care" was completed. The first nationwide “Cholesterol Weeks” gave the association a public. In 2003, an expert opinion on the role of outpatient and contract medical cardiology in Germany was commissioned from Professors Oberender , Graf von der Schulenburg and Wasem .

Structure and tasks

Members are internists who specialize in cardiology and who have their own practice.

One of the concerns is scientific training with a focus on established cardiologists.

The larger annual events include the autumn conferences, which were held on the Bürgenstock for the first 10 years and have mainly taken place in the Frankfurt area since then. The general meetings, which take place twice a year, are preceded by meetings of the board of directors lasting several hours.

The training focuses on continuous long-term electrocardiography, pacemaker follow-up measures and quality assurance in invasive cardiology ("QuIK register")
