The Bundesverband Rettungsdienst (BVRD.at) is an Austrian non-profit association that is committed to the further development of a modern, high-quality and patient-oriented rescue service in Austria. It was founded in Vienna in 2008 and is now based in Linz .

history

In 2008 four rescue service experts from different organizations ( Austrian Red Cross , Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Austria and Wiener Berufsrettung ) founded the Austrian Professional Association for Paramedics (ÖBS). The aim was to represent the interests of paramedics in Austria and to improve the preclinical care of all patients entrusted to the rescue service.

Over the years, the internationally recognized course formats PHTLS (2008), AMLS (2011), EPC (2015), TECC / TCCC (2018) have been introduced and offered in Austria to promote professional development .

In 2014, the association was relaunched as the Federal Rescue Service Association (BVRD.at, Austrian Paramedic Association).

On the initiative of BVRD.at, an Austria-wide award for special services by paramedics was launched. The Camillo Award will be presented for the first time in 2020 in the categories paramedics, paramedics, trainers, police / military and special awards.

In 2020, together with the Elsevier publishing house and the DBRD, the magazine "Elsevier Emergency" was launched as a specialist magazine and association organ in Austria.

organization

BVRD.at is a non-profit association. All offices and functions are carried out on a voluntary basis. The association has a board (6 members) and a board (17 members). With paramedics, emergency paramedics and emergency doctors as members from all federal states and all recognized rescue organizations, BVRD.at sees itself as a cross-organizational platform. He represents the interests of all paramedics, regardless of their level of training, the nature of their activity or the organization they work for.

activities

In terms of content, BVRD.at is based on the three pillars of professional support, cross-organizational networking and raising awareness of the concerns of a modern, patient-oriented rescue service.

He is the Austrian sponsor of the internationally recognized course formats PHTLS , AMLS , EPC and TECC / TCCC . Over 30 two-day courses and training courses are held annually. In addition, BVRD.at organizes so-called "think tanks" for its members several times a year, a discussion format that deals with medical, professional-political and organizational issues relating to rescue services in Austria.

BVRD.at is the initiator of the Camillo Award , the first Austria-wide prize for outstanding performance by paramedics in Austria, regardless of their employment or the organization they work for.

BVRD.at is actively involved with mailings and statements in discussions about the challenges of pre-clinical emergency care. The requirements include a uniform register for paramedics or the adaptation of the training and skills of emergency paramedics to international standards. To this end, the association regularly participates in discussions.
