The German Professional Association Rescue Service eV (DBRD) is a professional association for German paramedics , paramedics and emergency paramedics . It was founded in Hamburg on November 21, 2006 and is now based in Lübeck . The association is a registered association .

history

On November 21, 2006, 27 rescue service experts founded the "German Rescue Service Association" in Hamburg. The objective was to represent the interests of the rescue personnel in Germany and to improve the preclinical care of all patients entrusted to the rescue service . This was preceded by numerous and long discussions in the ranks of the rescue specialists about the need for a new professional association in addition to the already existing professional association for the rescue service (BVRD).

At the endeavor of the DBRD, the constituent meeting of the German management committee of the international trauma care system PHTLS (Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support) took place in July 2007 , which has since been offering courses in Germany as PHTLS Germany affiliated to the DBRD. The international course concept AMLS (Advanced Medical Life Support) was also introduced in Germany by the DBRD in October 2010 .

In November 2011, the specialist journal Emergency + Rescue Medicine was presented as an association organ.

A medical advisory board consisting of three people and not entitled to vote is available for advice on medical issues .

Activities of the DBRD

Today the DBRD is represented in all committees relevant to its work. For example, he was a member of the advisory board for the establishment of an electronic health professions register (eGBR) and until the completion of the preparatory work in the expert group for the amendment of the Paramedic Act at the Federal Ministry of Health .

The DBRD is also actively involved in various specialist congresses and training events.

There was criticism of the DBRD in May 2018, when the Association of Bavarian rescue service employees recommended calling an emergency doctor "for protection" for every invasive measure.
