Werner Lüderitz

Werner Lüderitz (born August 8, 1929 in Zerbst / Anhalt ) is a German table tennis official . He was president of the former GDR table tennis association and, after reunification, president of the newly founded table tennis association Saxony-Anhalt. For his services to table tennis he was awarded the ITTF Merit Award .

Career

As a functionary, Werner Lüderitz initially took care of the youth sector. In 1956 he took over the chairmanship of the youth commission in the TT Association of the GDR DTTV , which he held until 1975. From 1959 to 1975 he worked in the youth commission of the world association ITTF . In 1961 he became Vice President of DTTV, in 1974 he replaced Edgar Azig as President. However , he was unable to remedy the restrictions and deficiencies caused by the competitive sports decision - material deficiencies, hardly any international matches. Lüderitz remained its president until the DTTV was dissolved in 1990.

After the German reunification , the Table Tennis Association of Saxony-Anhalt (TTVSA) was re-established and Lüderitz was elected President. He held this office until 2000, when he did not run for reasons of age.

Honors

Werner Lüderitz received numerous honors. In 1988 the GDR leadership awarded him the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. A year later the world association ITTF presented him with the ITTF Merit Award . In 1993 he received the gold badge of honor from the German Table Tennis Association DTTB .

Werner Lüderitz is married.
