ITTF Merit Award
The ITTF Merit Award is an award given by the world table tennis association ITTF to people who do not work directly for the ITTF, but who have made a great contribution to table tennis within their national association.
There are no fixed criteria for awarding the ITTF Merit Award. If someone has made a contribution to table tennis, the associated national association can propose this person to the ITTF for the award of the award with a suitable reason. This proposal will then be discussed and decided by the Annual General Meeting (Executive Committee), which will take place at the next World Cup . The honoree receives a medal.
The ITTF Merit Award was an idea of former ITTF President Ichirō Ogimura . The award was given for the first time in 1989, and the first to be honored were the Englishman Bill Vint and Rudi Gruber from Germany, who was the president of the Bavarian and Southern German Association and sports director of the German Table Tennis Association DTTB .
Alternatives
