Hans-Jürgen Haase

Hans-Jürgen Haase (born October 1, 1921 , † December 10, 2011 in Eversen ( Ahausen )) was a German table tennis official. He was awarded the ITTF Merit Award for his services .

Hans-Jürgen Haase was initially an active athlete and was invited to the Youth Olympic Camp in Berlin-Grunewald in 1936 . He later came to table tennis and was a co-founder of the TSV Kiel-Schilksee club, where he was head of the department until 1962.

Hans-Jürgen Haase took on official duties in the table tennis association Schleswig-Holstein (TTVSH), in the North German table tennis association (NTTV) and in the German table tennis association DTTB . In 1961 he was one of the founding members of the NTTV. From 1953 to 1966 he was the youth manager of the TTVSH, and in the mid-1960s he was also the youth manager of the NTTV. In July 1965 he was appointed deputy youth warden in the DTTB, from 1967 to 1979 responsible German youth warden.

In 1966 he replaced Heinz-Joachim Kermel both as chairman of the TTVSH and as president of the NTTV. He gave up the leadership of the TTVSH 18 years later, i.e. in 1984, and held the presidency of the NTTV until 1991. In NTTV, he mastered the integration of the new federal states of Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony-Anhalt after reunification in 1989 .

On May 22, 1980, Hans-Jürgen Haase was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit with ribbon. In 1991 he was made an honorary member of the DTTB. In 2007, the world association presented him with the ITTF Merit Award for his services to table tennis .

Private

Hans-Jürgen Haase was a lieutenant in World War II , then studied at the University of Education in Flensburg and later worked as a teacher in Kiel. He was married and had three children.
