Edith Santifaller

Edith Santifaller (born July 18, 1932 ) is a former Italian table tennis player and official. In 1999 she received the ITTF Merit Award .

Career

Edith Santifaller is a former Italian international. At national championships she won a total of 92 titles up to 2008, including senior championships. After the end of her career as a competitive athlete, she was the national coach for the Italian women for 12 years. In 1978 she became President of the Table Tennis Association in Bolzano, and from 1981 she worked in the youth committee of the European Table Tennis Association ETTU . In May 1996 she was elected to the board of the world association ITTF .

From 1982, the first edition, to 2008, Edith Santifaller took part in all Senior World Championships and all Senior European Championships. During this time she won gold twice, silver three times and bronze three times at the World Championships. At the EMs she won three gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

Her services to table tennis were recognized in 1999 when she received the ITTF Merit Award .

  • 1994: Senior World Championship: gold in singles over 60s, gold in doubles with Reina Wetterström (Sweden)
  • 1995: Senior European Championship in Vienna: Silver in the single over 60s
  • 1997: Senior European Championship in Prague: Gold in doubles over 60s with Gudrun Kahns (Denmark)
  • 2002: Senior World Championships in Lucerne: Silver in the single over 70s
  • 2003: Senior European Championship in Courmayeur: gold in singles over 70s, gold in doubles with Irene Hecq (Belgium)
  • 2005: Senior European Championships in Bratislava: silver in single over 70s, bronze in doubles with Martha Wilke (Germany)
  • 2006: Senior World Championships in Bremen: Bronze in double over 70s with Martha Wilke (Germany)
  • 2010: Senior World Championships: silver in doubles over 75 with Betty Bird (England)
  • 2011: Senior European Championship in Liberec: Bronze in the single over 75
