Richard Yule
Richard Yule (* 1950 in Aberdeen ) is a Scottish table tennis player and trainer. In the 1970s and 1980s he took part in six world championships and seven European championships .
Career
Richard Yule began playing table tennis at the age of eight. He won 24 titles at the National Championships of Scotland, eight in singles (1971, 1972, 1975 to 1980), nine in doubles (1972, 1974, 1975 to 1978, 1980, 1981, 1985) and seven in mixed (1975 to 1980 , 1982).
From 1973 to 1985 he was nominated for six world championships and seven European championships , but never came close to medal ranks. He took part in the Commonwealth Championships six times , where he reached the semi-finals in 1973.
In the mid-1970s he played for the French club AS Messine Paris.
In 1985 Richard Yule ended his career as a competitive athlete. Then he worked as a trainer. First he was national coach in Scotland and Ireland, later he worked in Belgium. In 1995 he became CEO of the English Table Tennis Association ETTA .
Richard Yule was awarded the Harry Baxter Award in 1989 for his services to Scottish table tennis. The world association ITTF presented him with the ITTF Merit Award in 2013 .
Private
In 1971 Richard Yule began studying languages, first at the University of Edinburgh , then in Sorbonne in Paris.
