South German table tennis association

The Süddeutsche Tischtennisverband eV was one of four regional associations of the German Table Tennis Federation DTTB . It was disbanded on June 30, 2011.

The member associations Badischer TTV, Bayerischer TTV , Südbadischer TTV , Sächsischer TTV and TTV Württemberg-Hohenzollern had come together in it.

The South German TTV represented the common interests of these member associations, whereby they retained their independence in state affairs. His duties included

  • the implementation of south German individual championships and ranked tournaments as well as the establishment of south German rankings;
  • the implementation of the team competitions of the South German TTV (up to the regional league as the highest class) and the promotion games for this;
  • the formation of selection teams and the implementation of comparative matches.

The seat of the association was in Stuttgart. The last president was Claus Wagner.

history

The South German TTV was founded on July 7, 1962 in Saulgau . At that time it consisted of the four member associations Badischer TTV, Bayerischer TTV , Südbadischer TTV and TTV Württemberg-Hohenzollern . After reunification , the Saxon TTV was added on December 6, 1990.

The 14 founding members included a. Rudi Gruber (Bayerischer TTV), Gerhard Maier (TTV Württemberg-Hohenzollern), Hans Korn (Bavaria), Adolf Werhan, Franz Kölble, Ullrich Schuler, Bertram Heissler, Werner Kohlmüller, Franz Kowarik and Manfred Braun as well as the clubs SV Stuttgart-Möhringen, SB Stuttgart and SV Stuttgarter Kickers.

The first decision was the introduction of the Oberliga Süd for men for the 1963/64 season as a joint top division. Before that, there was a major league for Bavaria, South Baden and Württemberg. Below the new men's upper league, the two-part 2nd League South was decided. A two-tier league was set for the women.

Since the 2010/11 season, responsibility for the regional and major leagues has been transferred to the German Table Tennis Association DTTB . Thereupon the Association Day in Biberach decided to dissolve the South German Table Tennis Association. This decision was implemented on June 30, 2011 in Beilngries at the annual meeting.
