Mihovil Kapetanic

Mihovil “Misha” Kapetanic (* 1922 ; † February 18, 2012 in Belgrade ) was a Yugoslav table tennis official who was awarded the ITTF Merit Award for his services to table tennis .

Functions

Mihovil Kapetanic became President of the Yugoslav Table Tennis Association in 1953. A year later he took over duties at the European level by at the European Table Tennis Association ETTU in Management ( Executive Board cooperated) and was Chairman of the Technical Committee. Since 1977 he was a member of the administrative bodies of the world association ITTF . In 1986 he was elected ETTU president as the successor to the Hungarian György Lakatos . In 1992 he voluntarily resigned from this position, and was replaced by Hans Wilhelm Gäb . Until his death, Kapetanic worked as a close advisor to ITTF President Adham Sharara .

Numerous honors honored Kapetanic's services to the development of table tennis. He was honorary president of the Serbian and Yugoslavian table tennis association as well as the Balkan table tennis union and the Mediterranean table tennis association. He was an honorary member of the ETTU and the ITTF. In 1989 he received the ITTF Merit Award .
