The Federal Association of the German Security and Defense Industry eV - BDSV is a trade association that represents the interests of German companies in the defense industry.

He is a member of the European umbrella organization Aerospace and Defense Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and has the mandate to represent German interests in the NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG). In Germany he is a member of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and the German Society for Defense Technology (DWT).

history

The BDSV was founded in September 2009 and started its work in January 2010. He emerged from the Committee for Defense Economy and Security Issues at the Federation of German Industries .

The association was founded by the companies EADS Deutschland GmbH , ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH , Diehl Defense Holding GmbH , Krauss-Maffei-Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG , FR. Lürssen Werft GmbH & Co. KG , Rheinmetall AG , and ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems .

President is the Chairman of the Board of Management of Rheinmetall AG , Armin Papperger. Hans Christoph Atzpodien has been the general manager since August 1, 2017 . He took over the office from the former State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology , Georg Wilhelm Adamowitsch , who had been General Manager since November 1, 2011.

The BDSV is divided into the following committees:

Full members, regardless of turnover and size, can become any company whose industrial value creation is in Germany and which is active in the field of defense or security technology.

BDSV Exhibitions eV (formerly the Defense Fairs Group (GWM))

BDSV Exhibitions eV (formerly Gruppe Wehrtechnische Messen eV, renamed on January 1, 2016), in which well over 100 German companies in the security and defense industry have been organized since 1996, is responsible for the German joint stand at international defense technology trade fairs. The association works closely with the Federal Association of the German Security and Defense Industry (BDSV) eV; the managing director of BDSV eV is also managing director of BDSV Exhibitions eV The German medium-sized companies have a share of more than half in the added value of the German security and defense industry; this is supported by the joint platform of BDSV Exhibitions eV.

The focus of the "BDSV Exhibitions - German Defense Technology" is:

  • Land defense technology, marine systems and marine equipment and aviation systems
  • Information systems, command, control and communication
  • Weapons and ammunition, including guided missiles
  • armored and unarmored vehicles
  • Reconnaissance and air defense
  • Equipment components
