Federal competition "Gardens in Urban Development"

The federal competition "Gardens in Urban Development" has been a competition that has been taking place in the Federal Republic of Germany since 1951 . It is organized every four years by the Bundesverband Deutscher Gartenfreunde eV (BDG) together with the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development . Participants are allotment gardeners ' associations that have emerged as winners in the competitions organized by the regional associations. The award is given to gardens that present the urban , ecological , horticultural and social significance of the allotment gardens in the city particularly well. The next national competition will take place in 2014.

Details about the competition

The federal association defines the requirements of the admitted participants per regional association according to its structure, appoints a temporary evaluation committee and (sometimes) also assigns a motto . With the award, certificates , plaques ( gold , silver , bronze ) and, if necessary, special prizes are given.

Fifteen allotments were awarded gold medals in 2006. In 2010, 28 allotment gardens were awarded.
