Bungenstockback is a press ice ridge off the coast of Queen Elizabeth Land in West Antarctica . It rises up in the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf .
Scientists at the Alfred Wegener Institute named it after the German geologist and geophysicist Herwald Bungenstock (1928–1998), who played a key role in the resumption of marine and polar research in Germany after the Second World War .
