The bunker on the Obertrave was built as an air raid shelter with a passage to the aisle in Reinfeld in Lübeck's old town . He is on the Obertrave between Marlesgrube and Dankwartsgrube .

building

Predecessor building in Alt-Reinfeld , demolished in 1938

It was one of a total of 20 high-rise bunkers that were built under senior building officer Otto Hespeler, the head of the air defense construction department. It was four-story with a gable roof and a passage by the architects Otto Sieberth and Otto Schweinfurth. It was built on the property of a disused arcade building, the historic town courtyard of the Reinfeld monastery , with a usable area of 1,100 m². The facade was clinkered and designed with half-timbering as a dummy portico.

Cityscape

The bunker is also named after the passage Im Reinfeld. He was one of those who adapted in shape and size to the cityscape and its surroundings, because the memory of the previous building was kept alive by taking the historical model of the previous building. However, the previous building was not intended to be included, the design was planned with a tower that was no longer implemented.

history

The air raid shelter was built in 1940/1941. After the end of the war, demilitarization by demolition was required, but not carried out. In the course of the Cold War, it was kept from 1990 until again as a bunker for air protection purposes, i.e. as a prepared shelter in the event of a catastrophe in the Cold War. In 2007, the air protection concept was abandoned by the federal government and the bunker was dismantled. After demilitarization, the bunker has been in the city's possession since early 2010.
