Bunsen-Pettenkofer Honor Roll

The Bunsen-Pettenkofer Honor Roll of the DVGW ( German Association of Gas and Water Subjects eV) is the “highest honor for exceptional commitment” in the gas and water sector. It is named after Robert Wilhelm Bunsen (1811–1899), the inventor of spectral analysis , and the Bavarian chemist Max von Pettenkofer (1818–1901).

The association founded in 1859 for technical and scientific tasks in fuel gas and water supply currently (as of 2015) has almost 14,000 members, including 3,300 companies and 250 authorities.

The honor roll has been awarded since 1900. In the year of the foundation they received Max von Pettenkofer, Carl Auer von Welsbach , Hans Bunte , Ernst Grahn and Wilhelm Oechelhaeuser . The next honors were in 1905, 1909, 1911 and most recently in 2011 - to date (2014) there are 71 award winners.

In addition, there has been honorary membership since 1861, also the ring of honor and the badge of honor. The association also donated the Kuhn Medal of Honor for specialists in cathodic corrosion protection .
