Bureau of Public Enterprises

The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) in Nigeria has the task of state-owned enterprises privatized and commercialized and economic sectors to reform on a broad basis.

In 1998 a study found huge taxpayers' money wasted in public enterprises. It was then in 1999 with the " Public Enterprises (Privatization and Commercialization) Act created" the legal basis for privatization and commercialization. Responsibility lies with the National Council for Privatization (NCP). The BPE is responsible for the implementation and is divided into

  • Industry and Manufacturing,
  • Infrastructure and networks,
  • Natural resources,
  • Oil and gas,
  • Services,
  • Transportation and aviation.
