The castle complex was on and around a rock tower of the Bärenstein at 771  m above sea level. NHN Höhe, which today serves as a lookout tower. There was probably a watchtower on the rock tower, the residential buildings leaned against the north and west sides of the tower, where the supports for wooden beams are still visible. The facility was accessible from the south, here is a neck ditch .

At the castle site, humpback blocks with a sandstone edge were found; today they serve as steps to the lookout tower. In addition, furnace tiles and shards of vessels from the 14th and 15th centuries were discovered during excavations.
