Coca Castle
The Castle Coca in the small town of Coca is located about 54 kilometers northwest of Segovia away, at the confluence of the rivers Eresma and Voltoya , and about 60 kilometers west of the castle Pedraza .
The castle was built in the 15th century by the Bishop Alonso de Fonseca . Its construction began in 1453 and was completed towards the end of the 15th century. It is surrounded by a deep moat ( kennel ) and is a unique example of Spanish castles in the Mudejar style . Like all buildings of this style, Coca Castle is almost entirely made of brick . The Arab influence is evident in the decorative elements such as stucco and bandwork on the wall of the keep , on which an Arab horseshoe arch inserted into a pointed arch, and on the gates.
Part of the complex owned by the Duke of Alba was reconstructed by the Spanish state in the 1950s and today houses a forestry technical school with boarding school.
