The castle Créhange (German: Kriechingen ) is a ruin of a former moated castle in France in the valley of the Nied . It is located in Créhange in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region .

history

Since the 12th century, the castle - initially as a Lorraine fiefdom - was owned by the noble family of the same name, the later Counts of Kriechingen . It remained in the possession of the county until the French Revolution .

investment

From the once rectangular castle with four round corner towers ( fort type ) only one tower has been preserved in considerable remains. The building fabric can be dated to the end of the 15th / beginning of the 16th century.
