The castle Freudenstein is an Outbound Spur castle on a 290 m above sea level. NN high mountain ledge east of the village of Freudenstein zu Freudenstein-Hohenklingen, a current district of Knittlingen in the Enzkreis ( Baden-Württemberg ).
The castle was built by the Lords of Freudenstein, who were enfeoffed by the Lords of Roßwag . The Knights of Freudenstein were inherited by the Bretten ministerial and named themselves after Freudenstein from 1270. The former castle complex was demolished by a quarry and today only the "Burgstallstrasse" bears witness to the castle.
