The Gerzensee Castle or "Festi" is an abandoned medieval hilltop castle from the 13th century above the village on a hill in the municipality of Gerzensee in the canton of Bern .

history

The castle, the village and the court of Gerzensee were owned by the Barons of Kramburg between 1230 and 1290 . Around 1300 the rule was divided between Heinrich von Kramburg, Ulrich von Gysenstein and Niklaus Neunhaupt. From 1327 Johann the Younger von Bubenberg also became a co-owner. In 1350 the knight Werner von Resti took over the ownership of the von Kramburg. After the fire of 1518, which completely destroyed the castle, the old Gerzensee Castle was built at the foot of the Festi hill . The castle stable shows no more remains.
