Leiterberg Castle

The Castle Head Mountain is an Outbound Spur castle on the 620  m above sea level. NN high "Leiterberg" 500 meters northwest of Wangen , one of eight localities in the municipality of Ostrach in the district of Sigmaringen ( Baden-Württemberg ).

The castle was built in the 13th century and demolished in the 17th century. The castle hill, a flattened moat and rubble still bear witness to the former castle complex.

Quote from the Schwäbische Zeitung from January 19, 2001:

During the demolition work, old building blocks of the castle on the Leiterberg? found. It is known from tradition that natural stones from the ruins were once used to build houses and stables in Wangen and Einhart on the mountain cone known as the “castle hill” according to Wangen's definition.
