Meidelstetten Castle

The castle Meidelstetten is an Outbound hilltop castle at 829.5  m above sea level. NHN north of Meidelstetten, a district of the Hohenstein community in the Reutlingen district ( Baden-Württemberg ).

The castle was built between 1100 and 1150 and the Lords of Meidelstetten sat on it. They were mentioned several times in the 12th and 13th centuries with Rodeger von Meindelstetten and his son Heinrich. The Meindelstetter local noble family served the Counts of Achalm and later the Lords of Neuffen . The small castle was probably abandoned at the end of the 12th century, possibly it was destroyed by fire.

Remnants of the core masonry and a lining wall as well as two shallow ditches and several hollows have been preserved from the former castle complex .
