Nedderby Castle

The castle Nedderby is an Outbound lowland castle in Husby - Gremmerup in Schleswig-Flensburg , the country Schleswig-Holstein .

background

When the castle was first mentioned is unclear. The Burgplatz south of Gremmerup near the “Nedderby” district was already drawn on a map of fishing rods by cartographer H. Piepgras from Gelting in the mid-19th century.

The local history researcher Jakob Röschmann localized the castle Nedderby around 1960 and described the location of the castle ( location ) with the following words: “The district 'Nedderby' is traversed east-west by a small stream towards the meadow north of Wattschaukrug. In the angle between the stream and the row of maps west of the Husby-Gremmerup road, an elevated arable area can be seen to the north of the stream, which is quite sharp-edged both to the south to the stream and to the lowland in the west. From the side of the stream, the 0.50-0.80 meter high ledge bends almost at a right angle to the north and then curves in an arc that is clearly recognizable, but blurred, towards the north-east towards the road. A very faded, ditch-like depression with partly dark discoloration is clearly visible from the arched edge. ” The castle square described had a length from east to west of about 100 meters. The Burgplatz was 50 meters wide. Due to the nearby brook, the castle could have been a moated castle . After the land consolidation carried out later in the area, apparently nothing of the formerly preserved "increase in the field of 50 × 100 meters" and no other remnants of the castle complex can be seen in the area.
