Gremmerup ( Danish Grimmerup ) is a district of the municipality Husby .

location

The village of Gremmerup is located along its village road, which leads to the north to the Süderholz , a small wooded area and residential area . The village road continues in the forest area through the Süderholhz road of the same name. They end at the village of Munkbrarup . A turn to the west of the village street, which bears the street name Rüllschauer Weg, leads to the village of Rüllschau . Husby village is five hundred meters south of Gremmerup. The southern part of the village of Gremmerup is also called Nedderby. Nedderby means something like Niederdorf or Unterdorf, the Nedderby is geographically south and also from the altitude below the "main village" ( location ). Another nedderby exists, for example, at Rinkenis , on the northern side of the north ( Lage ). To the northwest of the village of Gremmerup lies the Langroi farm ( location ), which is usually included in Gremmerup.

background

The name "Gremmerup" possibly means "Village of Grim (m) i" or "Grim (m) is village". In the Middle Ages, there was a castle right by the village of Gremmerup , which is now known as Nedderby Castle . Incidentally, the village was then in the Husbyharde area . The place was already marked on maps from 1858.

In 1869 the independent municipality of Gremmerup was founded. In 1886 Husby and Gremmerup founded a volunteer fire department together. From this later the village guards in Husby, Gremmerup and Markerup / Husbyholz emerged. After the Second World War , the population of the community apparently increased significantly due to refugees . In 1946 there were 408 people in the parish. In 1961 Gremmerup only had 207 inhabitants. In 1970 only 189 people lived in the community. In the same year the municipality of Gremmerup was incorporated into Husby. Gremmerup is still part of Husby today. Two of the old thatched houses Gremmerups stand today as cultural monuments of the municipality Husby under monument protection .

Legend of the Vörbrand near Nedderby

There is also a legend in which a "Nedderby", probably the said Nedderby, is mentioned. The said legend tells of the following event: When someone was walking past “Nedderby”, he saw a “Vörbrand” there. A “pre-fire” is an event in which a fire can be seen that has not actually taken place and can therefore be prevented.

various

  • Gremmerup does not have its own church. Most of the Evangelical Lutheran residents apparently visit the nearby St. Vincentius Church in Husby.
  • A bus connection connects Gremmerup with the villages of Freienwill , Hürup Maasbüll and Husby as well as the city of Flensburg . Gremmerup therefore has three bus stops. One is in the northern part of Gremmerup, a second is near Nedderby and a third is at Langroi 1.
