It was first mentioned in the chronicle of Janko from Czarnków . The first resident of the castle, a burgrave named Zaklika de Kozkow , was mentioned in a document in 1370. Therefore, it is assumed that the castle complex was built in the second half of the 14th century.

Legend

The legend connects this place with the Polish king Ladislaus I. Ellenlang . It is said that the builder of the castle, Casimir the Great , named the place in honor of his father, who is said to have hidden there in the caves and forests of the area during the rivalry for the royal throne against Wenceslas I of Bohemia .

location

Ownership

Ojców Castle

Little is known today about the castle's first tenant. Since the lease could not be inherited, the tenant's descendants had to go to the king to obtain the right to the castle. In this way Jan from Korzkiew (probably a grandson of Zaklik), who lent the king a considerable amount of money, obtained the rights to the castle.

After the death of Jan from Korzkiew , the castle was inhabited by Hińcza from Rogów and then by Piotr Szafraniec from Pieskowa Skała , who also lent money to the king. In the course of time, the castle had many different owners, but they did not always live there. For this reason the castle deteriorated more and more and became dilapidated.

In the 17th century the Koryciński family renovated the castle from private funds and shortly afterwards sold it to Stanisław Warszycki . The castle had many other owners in the 18th century before it fell into disrepair in the 19th century.
