The Sokolac Castle stands on a hill in the Croatian town of Brinje in Lika-Senj and is one of the most important Gothic monuments in Croatia. Today it is the ruin of a spur castle , which was first mentioned in a document in 1411 and was owned by the Frankopan noble family . It is also called Gradina by the local population . Its Croatian name Sokolac means "falcon tower" in German.

The castle was built by Nikola IV Frankopan as the new center of his family. Ivan Anž VI was the first of the Frankopans to move there. Frankopan Brinjski a.

The castle is mentioned for the first time in 1411. Her chapel of St. Mary with its three floors and the Gothic portal is the best preserved castle chapel in Croatia .
