The castle of Hultaby (Swedish: Hultaby borg ruin or Hultaby slott ) is a only as ruins preserved castle in the area of the Swedish municipality of Vetlanda . It stands on a promontory on the southern shore of Lake Norrasjön .

The castle was built in the second half of the 13th century and rebuilt at the beginning of the 14th century. It had an outer bailey , the castle courtyard and the actual castle building. A first documentary mention as Hultaby ö was made in 1353 by Erengisle Sunesson , who wrote a letter from there.

The castle complex was probably destroyed in fighting as early as the 1360s. It burned down and was abandoned. In 1392 the castle, which had probably already been destroyed, was bequeathed to Växjö Cathedral . In 1510 the castle became the property of the Bishop of Linköping .
