The courtyard in Nörvenich was in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Düren .

The houses with today's name Marktplatz 3, 5 and 7 originally formed a single contiguous plot of land. In 1836 Christian Zimmermann, a son of “Burghalfen” Hilarius Zimmermann, who died in 1835, built this large farm . Hilarius Zimmermann had been the tenant of the farm that was attached to Gymnich Castle from around 1795 . He and later his sons were therefore called Burghalfen in the village . This courtyard was immediately west of the castle. Its buildings reached as far as Bahnhofstrasse , opposite today's Geusen and Becker houses, Bahnhofstrasse 7 and 9. The courtyard buildings in front of the (dry) moats that still existed were probably demolished in the 1930s after the above-mentioned courtyard on the market square was built been.

Based on the name Burghalfen, the new farm in the village was called "Burghof". This name should not be confused with the “Zum Burghof” inn. The name Burghof was popular until the 1950s, when no agriculture had been carried out from here for decades .

The builder of the farm, "Burghalfe Chreß", was married to Anna Catharina Königsfeld. He died in 1855. Presumably his son Winand, who died in 1919, was the last of the family to live on the farm.
