The Burgstall Eulenknapp is an abandoned medieval Niederungsburg in Verne , town of Salzkotten in the Paderborn district in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . It was a knight seat of the Lords of Verne .

The Burgstall is located 1 km southeast of Verne near the Brünnekenkapelle on the banks of the Bohmke .
history
The castle was a knight seat of the ministerial family of the Lords of Verne . In the years 1575–1577 the Lords of Krevet bought and inherited the property of the Lords of Verne . Later the castle on the Eulenknapp fell apart .
In 1607 the knight Wilhelm Krevet built the Vernaburg elsewhere in order to move his residence from Freedom in Salzkotten to Verne .
After the male line of Krevet died out in 1638, the von Brenken family acquired part of their estates with the Vernaburg and the Eulenknapp .
In 1843 the Eulenknapp hill was removed by the Barons von Brenken in order to create floating meadows .
Todays use
Today the castle grounds are used for agriculture .

The location of the castle was the hill Eulenknapp . When it was almost completely demolished in 1843, remnants of the wall were found. Since there is no documentation, further statements cannot be made.
