Burgstall Straßwitraun today

Johann Ev. Lamprecht described the facility as follows in 1880:

“On the road leading from St. Willibald to Enzenkirchen ... not far from the town of Strass-Witraun, about 40 years ago, on the slopes of the Schwarzenberg, a small castle stable hill rising from a moss ground and overgrown with scrub was visible carried a small castle, surrounded by a ring pond, with which 3 other fish ponds ... were connected. The Burgstallhügel was removed, u. the ring pond is filled with the same material; the whole room around, like the former fish ponds, were leveled into meadows. "

The local mountain Straßwitraun was completely destroyed in the 19th century. The Burgstallhügel was removed and the material of the same was used to fill the ring pond surrounding the castle hill. The landowner of the former facility (property number 442 of the cadastral municipality of Jagern) reported that he had cut the foundations of a round tower here "decades ago", probably rudiments of the lost seat. In the adjacent forest, however, a clear moat with a castle square can be seen. However, the site would first have to be investigated through archaeological excavations.
